Hide AdThe club has been set up by retired Horncastle businessman Peter Foster who is hoping for a successful start to the project.
He said: “We’ve had a lot of very positive feedback since we first announced details about the club.
“People I’ve spoken to think it is a tremendous idea and have been very supportive.
“What we need now is people turning up on the day. It’s all about getting ‘bums on seats’ so to speak.”

Hide AdAlthough trustees of Stanhope Hall are not charging for the hire of the venue, Mr Foster revealed there was a £100 licensing fee involved for permission to show the film.
He added: “Basically, we need at least 30 people through the doors to break even.
“We need to cover the film license. We can’t run the club at a loss.”
Mr Foster has spent several months finalising plans and believes there is demand for an afternoon film club.

“Essentially, it is a community project. Apart from seeing some of the best films ever made, it’s a chance for people who perhaps might be on their own to meet up and socialise.
“When you look at the success of things like the town’s luncheon club, there’s no reason this can’t be the same.
“While the films might appeal to a certain generation, the club is open to all ages.
“We’ve got some really good films lined up.
“ I’m sure they will appeal to a wide age range.”

Hide AdMr Foster has also produced an electronically based newsletter promoting the first two shows,
He said: “The idea of the newsletter is that we are trying to build up a following.
“The newsletter will promote films, provide a few details and include some movie trivia.
○Admission to the films is £3.50 for tickets bought in advance from the town’s Music Shop in the Bull Ring, or £4 on the door.
