New Horncastle Town manager Mickey Stones says he is desperate to bring the glory days back to the club he calls home.

With the Wongers’ Lincolnshire League campaign now over, he and fellow joint-boss Andrew Shinn have taken the reins from Paul and Dale Johnson, who have stepped down from their dug-out duties after eight years in charge.

They well be assisted by senior first-team players Nathan Rawdon and Steve Lovett.

The quartet have played together at Horncastle, Sleaford Town and Boston United Reserves, winning the Lincs League with the Pilgrims’ second string.

But Stones admits that succeeding with the Wongers would be an added incentive for them all.

“We definitely feel like this is our club,” Stones told The News.

“We’re all born-and-bred Horncastle, and we all still live here.

“We know the fans, we socialise with the fans - they’re some of the most vocal in the league - and we all want this club to win trophies.”
