Horncastle residents hit out at standard of work at main town junction

Horncastle residents were bemused by workmen painting a new white line at a major junction last week - straight through the middle of a pothole!

The work was carried out at the busy junction of the A153 and A158. Stephen Melton, who saw the work in progress, said: “I couldn’t believe it.

“The guy went straight through the pothole and the line, which was supposed to be straight, went all over the place. They will probably be back next week to fill in the pothole - and paint the line again!”.

Andy Ratcliffe, area highways manager, said the visible cables were old and redundant, and that the full repairs will be carried out at 9.30am (after the morning rush hour) on February 17, with the use of four-way temporary traffic lights.
