Brian and Jean Berry, both 81, were joined by family and staff for the party at the Tanglewood Care Home.

Brian and Jean moved to Lincolnshire a decade ago when they celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary.

Last week they marked another milestone in their long and happy marriage with a party for their Diamond wedding.

Jean, who lives near Woodhall Spa, said: “It was a very special day.

“We’ve had 60 years of happiness so there was lots to celebrate and it was lovely to see all the family gathered together.

“Like any couple we’ve had our up and downs and challenges, but if you stick together you can always get through the tough times and it’s worth it for the good times.”

The couple first met at their local palaise.

They got engaged at 18 and married three years later.

Before retiring to the county, the couple lived and worked in Manchester.

Jean worked for 30 years with the Co-op Bank and Brian with a security firm.

Brian moved to Tanglewood more than two years ago for health reasons and his family travelled down from Manchester to mark the special day with a party at the Louth Road home.

The couple’s son Brian and grandchildren David and Kayleigh, joined by staff, enjoyed a special cake, a singer, banners and balloons.

Organiser Stephanie Townsend, activities co-ordinator at the home, said: “Celebrating 60 years of marriage is an incredible milestone and we were delighted and honoured to be able to help organize, and join in with, the celebrations.”
