Churches come together for conference

This year’s theme was Unique and United, focusing on the fact churches can be unique in the way they operate, but united in their purpose.

Seventy women attended and 11 churches were represented at the event.

“This has been an amazing day with the sharing of stories, ideas, lunch and email addresses,” said Jacqui Wood of Springs Church.

“It has clearly demonstrated how willing different churches are to be united in so many ways.”

The morning featured two distinguished speakers – Lincolnshire’s own Jenny Baines, founder of a pregnancy advice service, and Canon Ann Easter, Chaplain to the Queen and a regular contributor to Thought for the Day on the Chris Evans’ Radio 2 breakfast show.

Both shared stories of their journey through their Christian lives, some moving and heartwarming, and others hilariously funny.

Following lunch, there was a series of four workshops: a craft session, “prayer soaking” – a contemplative style of prayer, Bible study and a choir-style singing workshop.

Springs Church was formed in 2002. Starting out as a House Church, it quite quickly grew and members started regular Sunday services in local halls.

In 2008, they decided to use Nettleton Village Hall as their Sunday ‘home’ and they now meet there most Sundays.

Services have a casual atmosphere, with contemporary worship and a Bible-based Word, starting at 10.30am and finishing no later than midday with fellowship over cake and coffee.
