Horncastle Theatre Company will be staging The Gaul by Janet Plater, the first to do so since the play’s world premiere at Hull Truck in 2016.

Janet will also be joining the cast for the last night of the play, much to the delight of Sheena Liversidge, who will be directing the play.

She said: “The play has become very special to all those involved - the fact that it is based around a real life event not so far away and the effect on the families and community really makes for an emotional response.”

To gain some insight into the fishing industry and lives of the trawlermen the cast visited the Arctic Corsair in Hull, where they heard first hand about the gruelling work and effects the loss of a trawler had on the whole community.
