Historic fighter planes from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at Coningsby will be among the star attractions in this year’s SO Festival.

The famous aircraft will soar through the skies of East Lindsey as part of the event’s finale weekend on Sunday, July 6.

The iconic Avro Lancaster, Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane, which were built for and fought in the Second World War, will perform a flyover above Skegness.

Portfolio Holder for Culture, Leisure and Tourism at East Lindsey District Council, Councillor Adam Grist, said: “The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is such a significant representation of our country’s history, so we are delighted to be working with the Royal Air Force to give the visitors of SO Festival the opportunity to see these legendary aircraft in flight.”

The Officer Commanding, Squadron Leader Duncan Mason, said: “The Team really enjoys carrying out displays and look forward to supporting this event.

“With D-Day and also the arrival of the Lancaster from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in August, this is a very special year for the BBMF and we look forward to celebrating and commemorating it.”
