Cinema returns with local connection

Horncastle’s Community Cinema will launch an autumn and winter programme later this month – and there will be a very unusual local connection at the first showing.

The cinema will screen A Royal Night Out at Stanhope Hall on Wednesday, September 23.

The film follows the two Royal Princesses, Margaret and Elizabeth, who are allowed by the King and Queen to join in the VE Day celebrations.

Two of the many extras who feature are the owners of the Horncastle Music Shop.

John Nowik, technician and projectionist at Stanhope Hall, said: “The proprietors of the Music Shop applied and were successful in being selected as extras.

“Peter is seen in the cut-away shots of the crowd during the king’s speech and Graham is seen seated and playing the piano in a pub scene.”

*Tickets can be purchased in advance (£3.50) from the Music Shop or on the door on the night (£4).
