Jane Burtt hosted a memorable Lady Captain’s Day at Woodhall Spa Golf Club on Thursday.

Played in excellent weather, 59 lady members and three guests took part in the stableford competition on the Hotchkin Course over lasted much of the day.

Jane’s husband, Jamey, welcomed all the ladies at the first tee, offered sweets and set them off with warm encouragement throughout the day, and his contribution was much appreciated by everyone.

The match was split into two categories, for those playing off the Red Tees and those from the Heather Tees. The Heather Tees, a fairly recent addition to the club, give a teeing off position in front of lengthy beds of thick heather on several holes, making the course much more enjoyable and accessible to many ladies.

The overall winner of the competition, with the highest score, was Jane Shirley (Heather Tees) with 41 points.

The three categories of competition results were: Red Tee (handicaps 1-19) – 1 Jane Howard 35 ocb, 2 Andree Burtt 35, 3 Alyson Potton 34; Red Tee (handicaps 20-36) – 1 Janette Hunter 37, 2 Marion Ashton 36, 3 Cynthia Treharne 35; Heather Tee – 1 Jenny Atherton 37, 2 Wendy Smith 36, 3 Pidge Wood 35 ocb.

Further prizes went to guest Mary Allport (31 points), Jane Crooks and Beth Dawson (nearest the 5th pin), Margie Ward-Read (nearest the 8th pin), Louise Roe (nearest the 12th pin).

The 62 competitors plus several social members enjoyed a very nice meal at well decorated tables after the match, and lady captain Jane Burtt presented the prizes.
