SQUASH: Horncastle suffer narrow defeat against Lincoln rivals


Horncastle Squash Club suffered a narrow defeat against top four rivals Lincoln Eastgate in a thrilling clash in Division One of the Lincoln League.

Both teams are fighting for second place in the table but it was Eastgate who came out on top, 3-2.

Horncastle’s star performer was Lewis Cheetham who earned the man of the match award after winning his game 3-1.

Promising youngster Daniel Wells came off second best in a 3-0 defeat but an awe inspiring display from Ollie Fixter earned him a 3-0 victory.

Ewan Hannam lost a tough match 3-1 while Martin Wells was involved in a marathon of a game, finally succumbing to a 3-2 defeat.

It was a shame either side had to lose a terrific match that was played in great spirit.

There was happier news for Horncastle’s top of the table side in the Lincs League.

They defeated second placed Gainsborough 2-1 to strengthen their grip of the title.

Daniel Wells won a tough battle 3-2. Martin Wells lost a tight match 3-2 and Rob Cunningham enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win.
