Horncastle Rugby Club played Lincoln 3rds in their first Merit League game of the season at the weekend.

Horncastle were able to boast a squad of 22 players and everybody got a game.

Town were 7-0 down at half time, but turned their fortunes around with two second half tries scored by Nigel Jackson and Freddie Jackson, both converted by Jacob Wells.

Lincoln scored a late try, but with a draw looking on the cards, failed to convert it, leaving Horncastle with a 14-12 victory.

Dave Stow, president of Horncastle Rugby Club said: “It was a massive effort by every player involved and very good all round.”

Horncastle’s next game is away at Bourne on Saturday. Training takes place on Tuesday nights at The Wong at 7pm, new players are always welcome.
