Horncastle Belles had a strong start, with Eleanor Lamb (GA) scoring straight off the centre.

The game moved from end to end throughout the first quarter demonstrating equal levels of skill within the centre court. The teams were communicating well with each other, passing consistently, and defence making excellent interceptions and marking within the ‘D’. The score at the end of the first quarter was 4-3 to Horncastle Belles. Horncastle Belles GD Aimee Dinan dominated the defending two thirds, making an interception within the first minute of the second quarter to keep them in the lead.

Louth scored the second goal of the quarter with Horncastle Belles scoring an excellent goal shortly after from the edge of the ‘D’.

Louth defenders, Laura Barbar (GD) and Helen Statham (GK), worked hard to keep Horncastle Belles at bay, successfully intercepting and passing the ball down court, but lost possession when the Horncastle defence snatch the ball as it teetered on the edge of the net. They successfully combined four passes through mid-court to score.

Louth continued to put up a brave fight while Horncastle Belles’ defence remained strong, as did their passing.

Horncastle Belles’ defence again secure an interception which led to a goal and 9-6 half time lead.

The third quarter started slowly, with the ball moving mid-court, as both Louth and Horncastle’s defence remained strong, challenging the shooters for both teams.

When in position, the shooters remained on form, scoring to retain a score of 12-11 lead to Belles at the end of the third quarter.

Louth worked hard in the final quarter to gain the lead within the first two minutes. Horncastle heads seemed to have dropped as Louth continued to dominate the final quarter.
