Jayne Taplin and Margaret Walmsley made it through to the final of the Lincolnshire Women’s Bowling Association EBF Ladies Pairs on Sunday.

They were competing at Louth IBC, where they came up against a strong pair from Dunholme, Barbara Heath and Janet Wright.

The really close game resulted in a 20-20 score at the culmination of the 20th end.

Margaret, playing two, was one down when she went to the head and she produced a fantastic wood to take the Dunholme bowl out to put Horncastle one up.

Barbara did not manage to change the head, resulting in Jayne and Margaret taking the title and progressing to represent Lincolnshire at Newark in April.

In the EIBA Ladies’ National competition Area 4 final Mary Johnson and Olive Wells narrowly lost by one shot in the pairs.

The National fours, where Horncastle are represented by M. Johnson, Olive Wells, Jayne Taplin and Judith Moody, has been re-arranged for March 17 at Grantham, due the Beast from the East.

Olive Wells will play Pam Cutts from Nottingham on March 14 at Lincoln.
