Table-topping Horncastle seconds managed to take advantage of a surprisingly scrappy match to record an emphatic win over Leadenham seconds.

Four goals from Dick Bee and further strikes from Nathaniel Moody, Ryan Baudains, Jack Read and Antonio Garcia made the match look slightly more comfortable than it was.

Horncastle fielded relative newcomers in their players side so there were several periods of play where possession regularly switched between the two teams.

The younger players soon started to use their speed to break behind the Leadenham defence and cross the ball into the supporting strikers.

As Leadenham started to alter their set up to deal with the attacks, Horncastle opted for a passing game and carved out numerous chances.

They kept possession well and were soon keeping the scoreboard ticking over at a regular rate.

Bee was always a threat while Sam Spendlove came agonisingly close to his debut goal when he hit the post.

As the game moved into the closing stages, Horncastle’s constant attacks led to a couple of breaks for Leadenham and the visitors were able to score a consolation goal.
