HOCKEY: High scoring Horncastle Men go marching on


Horncastle Hockey club’s Men’s first team continued their winning form in Division Four North West on Saturday with a 5-2 victory at Cambridge City Veterans.

The result means Horncastle still boast a 100 per cent record after seven games this season.

They opened the campaign with a 4-0 win against St Neots seconds and have since seen off Alford and District firsts (2-1), St Ives thirds (4-2), City of Peterborough sixths (1-0), Cambridge Nomads seconds 5-2 and Cambridge South seconds 2-1.

They are at home to Bourne Deeping Third this Saturday.

Not to be outdone, Horncastle Ladies first team returned to winning ways in Division Three North West (North) on Saturday with a 6-0 romp at Alford and District seconds.

It was a timely boost for Horncastle who had been beaten 3-1 by Lincoln Third in their previous game.

Meanwhile, the mens’s second team were narrowly pipped by Division Five North West rivals March Town seconds in a 13-goal thriller on Saturday.

Horncastle went down 6-7 - their fifth defeat in a row.
