Woodhall Spa Golf Club has gone into partnership with nationwide golf retailer American Golf for its inaugural Nine-hole Championship this summer.

Endorsed by England Golf, the governing body for all amateur golf in England, the Nine-hole Championship will see regional qualifying events take place over July and August and England Golf’s headquarters Woodhall Spa has been chosen as the ideal venue for the Midlands qualifier for the pairs event on August 11.

Daniel Gathercole, head of marketing at American Golf, commented: “Nine-hole golf has got an important part to play in the future of the game. It allows more people to play more often and even get a round in after work.

“We are very lucky to have the backing of England Golf who share our ideas for driving participation in golf and this meant we had a great opportunity to partner with Woodhall Spa to help get this idea off the ground.”

Woodhall Spa has waived any cost of holding the event with all entry fees for the competition being donated directly to the Golf Foundation, the golf charity that is dedicated to bringing the next generation of golfers into the game.

Woodhall Spa general manager Richard Latham said: “We’re really excited about being part of the American Golf Nine-hole Championship and look forward to welcoming the region’s best golfers to the club.”

The two winning pairs and runners-up at the Midlands qualifier will win fantastic prizes from TaylorMade, while the winning pairs also make their way to the Grand Final in October. Once there, each team will be competing for the ‘money can’t buy’ prize of a trip to the Bahamas for two people.
