Woodhall Spa Golf Club’s promising young junior Billie-Jo Smith finished fifth in the Scottish U16 Open Strokeplay Championship.
Played at Strathmore Golf Club, the England international fired an opening 76 and then added a two-under-par 70.
That second effort - one of the best of the entire tournament - earned Billie-Jo a voucher for the lowest scratch score of any U15 player in the second round.
Billie-Jo is one of the country’s top prospects and faces a busy tournament schedule during 2014.
Meanwhile, Woodhall Spa’s juniors continued their winning start to the season with a hard-earned victory at Gainsborough.
Callum Moore and Cameron Elliott lost to Cameron Platt and William Swan on the final green in the top match.
However, Tom Johnson and Louis Kimber beat Ben Grayson and Katy Langley 5&3 to level the contest and the success was secured by Richard Breislin and Phil Ritchie with a 3&2 win against Jordan Chapill and Ben Danby.
It was a back-to-back win for Woodhall who had opened their inter-club campaign with a win against Kenwick Park.
