Woodhall Spa golfer Holly Clyburn is celebrating after qualifying for the 2014 US Ladies Open in dramatic style.

Clyburn produced an amazing birdie-birdie finish to her round in a qualifying competition at The Buckinghamshire Golf Club earlier this week to book one of eight places.

The 23-year-old did not have long to celebrate, though, as she headed straight off to Holland to defend her Deloitte Ladies Open title.

Clyburn’s success in last year’s Deloitte event was her maiden victory on the Ladies European Tour and she will be hoping to repeat that victory at the International Club near Amsterdam.

She said: “My game is really consistent at the moment and I’m looking forward to the competition.”

Clyburn admitted clinching a US Open spot had boosted her confidence ahead of the Dutch competition which starts tomorrow (Friday) and finishes on Sunday.

At The Buckinghamshire, her hopes of qualifying appeared to have disappeared when she approached her final two holes.

However, she almost drove the green at to set up a birdie at the penultimate hole and then fired a tee shot to within eight feet of the pin at the par three next before rattling in one of the most important putts of her career.

Thanks to those two birdies, Clyburn can now look forward to playing in the US Open at the famous Pinehurst course later this year.

Before then, she is targeting more success on the European Tour, starting in Amsterdam over the next three days.

The former Curtis Cup winner enjoyed a highly successful debut season as a pro’ in 2013, finishing in the top ten of the European Tour’s money list.

Her form this year has already confirmed her rating as one of Europe’s best prospects.
