BOWLS: Jubilee Park host open tournament

Jubilee Park Bowling Club held their open tournament last Saturday – the East Lindsey Singles competition.

The day started out quite cool, especially on the raised Woodhall Spa bowling green, with a bitter breeze making conditions uncomfortable.

The competition consisted of each entrant playing four games of 10 ends. As the weather warmed up, the bowls seemed to run faster and faster but the expert bowlers just got more used to the green, with their line and length becoming the crucial element.

At the finish, only two entrants of the 32 starters managed the perfect four out of four wins. They were Harry Spencer, from Sleaford, and Malcolm Hewson, from Louth, with each winning a cash prize.

Jubilee Park also succeeded in raising more than £500 towards a new clubhouse which is expected to cost near £20,000.
