BOWLS: Horncastle club suffer mixed fortunes

Members of Horncastle Indoor Bowls Club suffered mixed fortunes in their latest matches.

The highlight was impressive wins in the Denny Plate, the Mixed League and the Ladies’ Trudy Bates Trophy.

However, there were also defeats in the Denny Cup, The Egham Trophy and the Men’s Over 60s Double Rinks.

In the Denny Plate, Horncastle saw off the challenge of Doncaster with an aggregate 108-62 victory. Winners for Horncastle were P. Barr (43-8), K. Jackman (22-15) and J. Nunn (27-14). G. Lancaster lost 17-25.

Horncastle now play Scunthorpe home and away in the next stage of the competition. The home leg is on Saturday (November 28) at 10am. Spectators welcome.

In the Mixed League, Horncastle won 14-4 at Spalding. Individual winners were J. Scholey (27-14), O. Wells (21-17) and K. Jackman (29-12.). G. Lancaster lost 18-23 as did D. Wells, 16-20.

In the Ladies’ Trudy Bates Trophy, Horncastle won 6-4 at Scunthorpe. Individual winners were N. Flint (20-16), P. Scholey (21-13) and O. Wells (28-13). J. Hoyles lost 10-17 and J. Moody 12-19.
