Wragby athlete Kieran Gillespie took part in the Leicestershire Pentathlon Championships on Sunday and performed really well.
He began the day with a long jump of 4.41m. He followed that up by going very close to his personal best in the hurdles with 17.7sec, despite knocking over a couple of the hurdles on the way.
Next up was the high jump which resulted in personal best leap of 1.48m. He quickly followed that with another PB in the shot put, throwing 8.93m.
The final event was the 1500m and Kieran went within a couple of seconds of his best with 5min 28sec.
Kieran’s father Jim said: “His final score of 1,877 points was a massive personal best, by over 700 points, so as you can imagine we are extremely pleased with the weekend’s efforts.
“This weekend has been brilliant, but I feel he still has more improvement to come, especially looking at what he has been doing in training, so the final month of the season is going to be very interesting.”
Kieran’s next competition is at Loughborough today (Wednesday) when he competes in the 800m and the shot putt.
