Young Wragby athlete Kieran Gillespie took part in the Coastal and Wolds district Championships last week.

He ran the 100m hurdles in 16.7 seconds which was a personal by a second-and-a-half, a massive improvement over the distance, and this was also a championship record.

Kieran’s father Jim said: “I have made some adjustments to his training of late, and these changes have had the desired effect of improving his leg strength, giving him more drive across and between the hurdles – hence the record.”

Kieran’s next major race will be the Young Athletes League at Sheffield on July 26.
