Town must be ready for a cup battle - boss

Andrew Shinn has warned his Horncastle Town side that they will have to be prepared for a battle if they want to book their place in a cup final this season.

The Wongers travel to Wyberton for their Supplementary Cup semi-final on Saturday (KO 2.30pm) before returning to The Caueway seven days later for their Challenge Cup semi.

“We’ll go full of confidence and, hopefully, at full strength,” said Shinn, after watching his side beat Lincs League rivals Skegness Town 3-1 on Saturday.

“But it’s a tough place to go and Wyberton won’t make it easy for us.

“We often have scrappy and physical games.

“Sometimes football goes out the window and it becomes a battle, but we have to be up for it.”

Wyberton have had the better of the two league meetings this term, drawing 0-0 at The Wong and winning 3-2 in their home contest.

But Shinn says his squad are desperate to add to last season’s Challenge Cup success.

“A trophy is a trophy at the end of the day and we want to win everything we can,” he added.
