Horncastle Town 3 Skegness Town 1

Horncastle Town boss Andrew Shinn praised the ice-cool nerves of midfielder Richard Jackson after he tucked away two penalties to help the Wongers claim a 3-1 victory over Skegness Town.

Luke Blondel opened the scoring at The Wong after meeting Liam Papworth’s cross, but two spot kicks from Jackson eventually settled the contest, his second late on after Ryan O’Loughlin’s free kick had brought the seasiders back into the game.

“Obviously, we’re confident in Jacko taking penalties,” Shinn said.

“There was a lot of pressure on the second one, but he tucked them both away nicely.

“They were both penalties for me, one in the back and the other was a trip.”

The result leaves Town second in the table, two points behind Ruston Sports, who have played one game fewer.

“It was a good performance from the lads,” Shinn added.
