FOOTBALL: Woodhall Spa through to final after second ‘cupset’

Woodhall Spa are through to the final of the SHS Allium Fishtoft Cup after a 5-0 victory over Freiston.

Just last week they claimed the scalp of Skegness Town Reserves, who are currently fifth in the Premier Division, and this week brushed bottom club Freiston aside to make it two wins in a row over top division sides.

Spa face an equally tough test this weekend as they take on Kirton Town in the semi-final of the Barclays Brokers Willoughby Cup.

Kirton are currently 11th in the Premier Division and could be the third Premier Division side in as many weeks to fall at the hands of Spa.

Spa are set to return to league action on April 5.

Premier Division side Mareham United faced a stern test this weekend as they travelled to table-topping Wyberton and lost 4-2.

They welcome Spilsby Town to Fieldside on Saturday.

Coningsby United jumped up the Division One table with a 2-1 win over bottom club Billinghay Athletic Reserves at the weekend.

They are currently fourth in the league three points ahead of Skegness United Reserves and local rivals Woodhall Spa United.

Mareham United Reserves jumped off the bottom of Division Two with a 1-0 win over Spalding Harriers.

They are now in 11th place, three points ahead of Fishtoft Reserves.

The Fieldsiders face a difficult test this weekend as they travel to second-placed Heckington Millers.
