FOOTBALL: Woodhall Spa looking for their Sunday best

Woodhall Spa will be aiming to round off their Sills and Betteridge Sunday League campaign on a winning note when they visit Division Tow rivals Green Barrel Athletic this weekend.

Spa led the title race for most of the season but have seen Travellers Rest and Rustons United overtake them in the battle for top spot.

However, Spa still appear to be firmly in the driving seat to secure a promotion place.

A win on Sunday would take Spa’s points tally to 41 but Travellers Rest - currently on 40 points - complete their league fixtures with a home game against mid-table Saxilby.

Ruston, who have three games to play, travel to bottom club Waddington and victory would see them take a huge step towards the title.

In Division One, Wragby FC face a tough test at AFC Rustons as the battle for a promotion appears to go to the wire.

Wragby looked set to challenge for the title a few weeks ago but have slipped to fifth.

However, they have games in hand on most of their rivals and victory would keep their promotion hopes alive.

In Division Three, Horncastle based AFC Harpars are without a game on Sunday and will be hoping Trent Valley slip to a surprise defeat at rock bottom West End.

Harpars lead the title race by seven points but second placed Trent Valley are seven points with three games in hand.

Harpars still have one game to play and would happily settle for a repeat of their last match which resulted in a 4-1 win against FCW Burtons.

Mike Harness bagged a hat trick in that game to take his tally of goals to the season to 36 - a new club record.
