FOOTBALL: Why Harpars are banking on Lincoln Green victory

Players from Horncastle based AFC Harpars will become big fans of Lincoln Green - but only for this weekend.

Harpars have led the battle for the Division Three title in the Sills and Betteridge League for most of this season.

However, they have completed their matches while second placed club Trent Valley are a point behind - with one game still to play.

Trent Valley visit Lincoln Green on Sunday and a win would see them snatch the title from Harpars.

Harpars rounded off their programme with a 4-1 win at Lincoln Claytons last Sunday with James White, Michael Harness, Daniel Boddily and Gareth Butler all on target.

Trent Valley were two goals behind at FC Vodaphone but hit back to snatch a vital 3-2 win with a late goal.

In Division Two, Woodhall Spa have completed their fixtures and are assured of third place in the table behind champions Rustons and runners-up Travellers Rest.

Wragby FC have also completed their programme in Division One and have clinched third place after winning 11 of their 20 games.
