Coningsby 2 Boston College 3

Coningsby’s dreams of a second successive appearance in the Boston Challenge Cup final were dashed on Saturday - after they were taught a lesson by opponents Boston College.

Although Coningsby produced a battling performance, they never really recovered from conceding two early goals.

Boston’s first goal stemmed from a thumping finish from their centre forward and they were two up after 20 minutes.

Five minutes later, Coningsby’s Sam Brader provided a beautiful cross for Sean Taylor to put away and boost hopes of a comeback.

However, it was Boston who made the better start to the second half and they went 3-1 up after a bout of head-tennis battle in Coningsby’s goalmouth.

With 20 minutes to, Taylor again raised Coningsby’s hopes when he scored his second goal of the game.

Coningsby then threw everything at Boston it cthe closing stages but the visitors held out to go through to the next round.
