FOOTBALL: Seven-up Boston prove to be too strong for Town

Horncastle Town produced a battling performance at the Wong last night (Tuesday) but were well beaten by a powerful Boston United side in the annual John Rawdon Memorial Trophy clash.

A Boston line-up including a host of first team regulars registered a 7-0 victory in front of a near 300-strong crowd.

Conference regulars Danny Thomas (3) and Marc Newsham (2) led the goal scorers with club skipper Scott Garner and Danny McGhee also on target.

Town striker Michael Harness admitted his side received something of a ‘football lesson’ but the hosts were unlucky not to open their own account.

Despite the result, there were a number of positives for Town against such strong opponents as they prepare to return to league action against Market Rasen at The Wong on Saturday.
