Horncastle Town U15s 1-1 Barrowby U15s

Wythe scored the equaliser as Town drew 1-1 with Barrowby on The Wong on Sunday.

Horncastle Town looked to regroup after a poor performance against Birchwood Colts last week.

The first half was evenly contested with neither team having any clear cut chances. Town came close to stealing a lead after Nixon’s shot from the edge of the box went just wide, leaving both sides goal less at half time.

Barrowby started the second half as the much stronger side, forcing the Horncastle ‘keeper Carlton to make a string of excellent saves.

After just eight minutes of the second half Barrowby took the lead after a ball played in from the left corner, was controlled in the box and finished effectively.

However, Horncastle fought their way back into the match and put pressure on the away side. Town equalised after 65 minutes when a long ball from Horncastle ‘keeper Carlton bounced over the top of the Barrowby defender causing confusion which allowed Wythe the opportunity to chip the advancing keeper to make the score 1-1.

Town almost took the lead a few minutes later as Brunlett hit the bar after receiving a pass from Johnson on the left wing.

The match ended 1-1 but was a markedly improved performance from the home side.

Town now face a tough game this weekend against Boston Community.
