FOOTBALL: Mareham Reserves avoid the drop

Mareham United Reserves avoided the drop from Boston Taylors Service Garages Division Two on the last day of the season as Fishtoft Reserves failed to win their final match, consigning them to relegation.

The Reserve side’s fate was out of their hands as Fishtoft had one game of the season left to play.

The Boston team were three points behind Mareham and knew that a win by two or more goals would send the Fieldsiders down, but they only managed a 2-2 draw away at Holbeach Bank.

In the Premier Division, the two relegation rivals first teams met as Mareham United lost 2-1 at Fishtoft.

United’s next fixture is on April 26 at home to Pointon.

Coningsby Reserves picked up a 4-2 win against Kirton Town Reserves in their last game of the Division Two Season.

Their next game is against Swineshead Institute Reserves in the final of the Barclays Brokers Willoughby Shield.

The final takes place at Tattershall Road, Boston on April 24.

AFC Tetford finished third in Division Three after the final games of the season were played over the weekend.
