Horncastle Town Reserves will take centre stage at The Wong tomorrow (Saturday) when they entertain Lincoln League leaders RM Imp (2pm).

Town will be aiming to become the first team this season to beat the high flying visitors who are hot favourites to retain the title.

The two sides met at RM Imp’s ground at the start of last month and Town felt they were unlucky to lose 2-1.

Manager Andrew Fenn will have a strong squad on duty for the return clash which is expected to attract a big crowd.

Fenn has transformed Town’s fortunes this season. They finished in bottom place last term but are fourth in the table - seven points behind RM Imp.

Fenn will be hoping leading scorer Luke Blondel can continue his impressive form after netting ten times this season.

Keeper Jason Stamford - who recently made his first team debut - will be another key figure against a free-scoring opposition side.

The big threats to Town will be strikers Joe Ayres and Lee Beesley. Ayres has scored 18 times this term, a tally which includes two hat tricks.

One of those goals was a second half header which proved to be the winner in last month’s clash between the sides.

*Town’s first team don’t have a fixture tomorrow but are scheduled to resume their challenge for the Sills and Betteridge League title at Rustons Sports next Saturday (January 10).
