Captain Chris Johnson will be aiming to lead Horncastle Town FC to victory tomorrow (Saturday) against Gainsborough Town in the Supplementary Cup final at Ashby Avenue, Lincoln (ko: 1pm).

Johnson and his teammates will go into the clash against their Sills and Betteridge League Premier Division rivals as underdogs.

While Gainsborough have figured in the top four of the league for most of the campaign, Town have languished in and around mid-table.

However, Town are not short on confidence after rounding off their league campaign with an impressive win at Boston United Reserves.

Manager Paul Johnson faces some difficult selection decisions - not least whether to recall potential matchwinner Michael Harness.

Harness is capable of breaching the best of defences but was unavailable for the Boston clash.

Town employed Tony Edwards as a lone striker with midfielders Scott Lowman, Carl Smith and Steve Brown among those lending support.

However, Harness proved his fitness - and his form - with a hat-trick last Saturday as Town reserves won a cup final - at Ashby Avenue.

Town will be hoping to be backed by a large following as they battle to land some much needed silverware.

It promises to be a busy day for the squad as the club stages their end of season senior presentation night at Stanhope Hall tomorrow.

The juniors held their event at the same venue last night.
