FOOTBALL: Horncastle Town Junior festival

A feast of top junior action will be featured in Horncastle Town’s Football Festival over the Bank Holiday weekend (May 2 and 3).

Held in association with LIVES, it will take place at The Wong and club officials are hoping for bumper support.

On the Saturday the Under 9s, 11s, 13s and 15s will take the stage to play in a round robin format with three other teams.

The top two teams in each group will play off for a trophy.

On Sunday, it is the turn of the U10s, 12s 14s and 16s.

A number of leading teams and players will be one view and Town are delighted to welcome we welcome back Attleborough who will be fielding sides in the U10 and U12s group.

A club spokesman said: “We have fostered a very good relationship with Attleborough Sports over the last few years and are delighted to continue the partnership.”

Apart from the actual action, JB’s Sport Coaching will be providing an inflatable shot tester which will gauge the strength of your strikes.

They will also referee for the U9s and 10s age group.

There will be plenty of refreshments, including award-winning burgers provided by Flat Cow. Proactive Teamwear, the club’s exclusive supplier of Jako kits, have donated some stock to be sold.

The club is also hoping to have a small market area featuring various stalls.

The groups for the day are:


Under 9: HTFC, Coningsby, Welton Arrows, HBW United Bandit.

Under 11: HTFC, Ruskington Lions, Saxilby Athletic, Spilsby.

Under 13: HTFC, Bardney Panthers, Boston United Community, TBC.

Under 15: HTFC, Hykeham Tigers, HBW United Colts, Ruskington Lions.


Under 10: HTFC, Woodhall Spa, Greenbank Rangers, Attleborough Sports.

Under 12: HTFC, Greenbank Cobras, Boston Town Saints, Welton JFC, Attleborough Sports.

Under 14: HTFC, Alford Town, North Lindum Hawks, Hykeham Tigers Bees.

Under 16: HTFC, Boston United Community, Boston Town FC, Spilsby Town

Teams will be registering from 9am with matches kicking off at 10am.

Car parking (£2, including raffle ticket) will be available on the ‘bottom’ pitch.

There will be some undercover seating areas in air tents provided by Mayfield Manufacturing.
