Horncastle Town will be aiming to opening their winning account in pre-season friendlies when they entertain Boston League Premier Division outfit Bennington at The Wong tomorrow (Saturday, ko: 3pm).

Boss Paul Johnson has seen his squad turn in two encouraging performances to earn draws at Billinghay Athletic and Harrowby United in their two previous warm-up games.

Town were particularly unlucky to miss out on a victory at Harrowby after leading their United County League Premier Division opponents 2-0 with 20 minutes to go.

Olly Johnson and Michael Harness were the players on target last Saturday and are likely to figure again tomorrow as Town step up their preparations for the new season.

Johnson’s squad could include several new signings - and a mix of familiar names like Nathan Rawdon and Tony Edwards.

Town’s opening fixtures for the new Sills and Betteridge Premier Division campaign have been announced.

Johnson and his players face three away games, because of on-going development work at The Wong centred around an impressive new clubhouse.

Town will visit Nettleham in their first match on Saturday August 16 followed by games at Skegenss United (August 23) and Skegness Town (August 30).

Town are also on their travels in the opening round of the County Junior Cup after being drawn at Billinghay. The tie is scheduled for October 11.

*Town’s reserves open their pre-season programme tomorrow with a trip to local rivals Coningsby (2.30pm).
