Horncastle Town’s first team squad were left frustrated after their pre-season friendly against Bennington at The Wong last Saturday was called off.
Town had been preparing for a tough warm-up and were “disappointed” when their Boston League opponents pulled out of the game late on because they could not raise a side.
Boss Paul Johnson had seen his squad turn in two encouraging performances to earn draws at Billinghay Athletic and Harrowby United in their two previous warm-up games.
Town quickly arranged another friendly against AFC Louth last night (Tuesday) when Johnson planned to check on the form of several first and reserve team members.
Meanwhile, Town’s opening fixtures for the new Sills and Betteridge Premier Division campaign have been announced.
Johnson and his players face three away games, because of on-going development work at The Wong centred around an impressive new clubhouse.
Town will visit Nettleham in their first match on Saturday August 16 followed by games at Skegenss United (August 23) and Skegness Town (August 30).
Town are also on their travels in the opening round of the County Junior Cup after being drawn at Billinghay. The tie is scheduled for October 11.
