Horncastle Town U15 1 Market Rasen U15 0

Town U15s showed tremendous character to bounce back from a heavy defeat against Pointon and beat Market Rasen in a busy weekend of action.

Town put a 10-2 set back against Pointon behind them and dominated long spells of the Rasen game, fully deserving the three points.

They almost scored after five minutes when Bruntlett ran onto a through ball and forced the Rasen ‘keeper into a great save.

Rasen came close themselves to scoring shortly afterwards, but Carlton made a good save.

Town took the lead after 20 minutes when Bruntlett volleyed the ball home from a Brockman free kick from the left hand side.

The second half was a hard fought affair. Nixon went close for Town following a free kick and Wythe almost scored after a good, battling run and shot which was only inches too high.

Rasen had one effort hacked off the line as they piled on the pressure in the closing stages, but Town held on with a real backs to the wall effort.

It was a different story against Pointon as Town were caught cold after not having a game for a couple of weeks.

Pointon started quickly and it only took them a minute to force Carlton into a save but they soon established a 2-0 lead.

Straight after the break, Town pulled one back after Nixon headed in a corner.

However, Town failed to stay in the game as moments later Pointon pulled further ahead.

Wythe did score a second goal for Town but their defence fell apart as Pointon added four more in the closing stages.
