Woodhall Spa CC have moved to within 10 points of third-placed Sleaford following Saturday’s 85-run win at Scunthorpe Town.
The Lincs ECB Premier’s newly-introduced season finale will see the top four face each other in a knockout competition.
And a third place would ensure a match against Grantham Town rather than all-conquering Bracebridge Heath in the semis.
Harsha Vithana was Woodhall’s main man as he scored 87 runs and took four wickets.
Support from Oliver Caswell (60), Henry Wilson (58), Thomas Dixon (27), Prasanna Jayawardene (20) and Joe Irving (13 not out) helped the Spa men to 285-5 off their 50 overs.
In response, the hosts were dismissed for 200.
Vithana conceded 31 runs as he took his four victims, with other wickets claimed by Jayawardene (3-63), Irving, Wilson and Tom Caswell.
On Saturday the Firsts host Lindum (noon).
Woodhall Seconds claimed 20 South Lincs and Border League Premier Division points on Saturday as guests Welby Cavaliers conceded.
They sit second in the table and travel to Boston Seconds on Saturday (1pm).
It was the same fate for the Sunday Firsts this weekend as Ancaster conceded their fixture.
They travel to Sleaford Sunday Firsts this week (1.30pm).
However, the Sunday Seconds won by 29 runs at Hartsholme, also claiming 20 points.
Adam Barker (84 not out), Henry Wilson (43), Alex Hodson (28), Matthew Haslam (27 not out) and sam Cooke (18) helped Woodhall to 238-4.
Hartsholme responded with 209-3.
John Temperton (2-36) and George Cobb claimed wickets.
This weekend they host Heckington (1.30pm).
