Narrow defeat for Horncastle CC but victory for Woodhall Sunday Seconds - cricket

Horncastle CC Firsts travelled to Alford for a friendly on Saturday, losing out by just six runs.

Jack Thompson took three wickets and Evan Wood and Kelly Drewery two apiece as the hosts were all out for 116.

In response Horncastle were dismissed for 110.

Drewery (28) and David Grest (20) top scored.

Horncastle CC Sunday Firsts were beaten by 98 runs when they hosted Scothern on Sunday.

The Lincoln and District League Division One contest saw the visitors post 217 for 3, Thomas Hacket taking two wickets and Tom Johnson one.

Horncastle ended their 40 overs on 119 for 8, Nathan Whiting top scoring on 47.

Woodhall Spa Seconds were beaten by 111 runs as they hosted Freiston, Leake and Leverton in Saturday’s SLBL Premier Division encounter.

Sam Cherry and Matt Haslam took two wickets each.

James White (57) and Haslam (32 not out) put together a 79-run partnership but Spa were dismissed for 189.

Billingborough were beaten by 88 runs at Woodhall Spa Sunday Seconds in the Lincoln and District League Division One.

Alex Hodson (57) and Alex King (28) guided the Spa Men to 160.

Billingborough were dismissed for 72 as Dewi Bourke took three wickets while John Temperton and Henry Cobb added two apiece.

Revesby Seconds got their Lincoln and District League Division Three campaign off to a winning start with a 15-run victory at Heckington.

Ian Tyler (45) and Simon May (19) helped the away side to 121 as the hosts were dismissed for 106.
