Woodhall Spa Cricket Club landed their first trophy of the season on Bank Holiday Monday - and in spectacular style.
Skipper Jack Luffman and his players defeated arch rivals Bracebridge Heath in final of the Winkworth Cup.
Outstanding batting from man-of-the-match Jonny Cheer and Jack Hughes saw Woodhall to a remarkable win in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League’s T20 competition.
Chasing a formidable target of 190, Woodhall powered home for the loss of just three wickets with more than over the spare.
Cheer finished unbeaten on 87 and Hughes on 41 not out - an innings which included four huge sixes and spanned only 17 balls.
Amazingly, Cheer also rattled up a score of 80 in Woodhall’s semi final win against Spalding.
A delighted Luffman said: “The boys were brilliant. Jonny and Jack may have led the way in the final but it was a real team effort.
“We certainly sank a few beers to celebrate.”
Woodhall will now represent the league in the next stage of the national knock-out competition.
