Woodhall Spa are gearing up for a ‘champion test’ tomorrow (Saturday) when they entertain Sleaford at Jubilee Park in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League.

Sleaford pipped Woodhall for the title on the final day of last season’s campaign but have struggled to repeat that form this time around.

Nevertheless, the presence of players like skipper Oliver Burford and former New Zealand Test star Tim McIntosh should present a stiff test for skipper Jack Luffman and his Woodhall squad.

They returned to winning ways with an impressive success at top six rivals Louth last Saturday and Luffman will be aiming to build on that.

Batsman Jonny Cheer will again by a key figure while Luffman will be looking for strike bowlers Ben O’Brien and Connor Parsons to repeat the form that blew away Louth’s top order.

Woodhall are joint fourth in the table but are more than 40 points behind runaway leaders Bourne who entertain Spalding tomorrow.

It is, of course, a big week for Woodhall who host a star-studded Lashings XI at Jubilee Park next Tuesday (2pm).

Former England spinner John Emburey is the latest big-name addition to a Lashings squad that features ex-South African Test ace Herschelle Gibbs.

*Woodhall Spa seconds continue their quest for points in the Premier Division of the South Lincs and Border League tomorrow with a trip to Sleaford seconds.
