CRICKET: Woodhall seconds are battered by Boston

Woodhall Spa second team crashed to a heavy defeat at Boston in their latest South Lincs and Border League Premier Division game.

Woodhall were always up against it after Boston romped to a formidable total of 279-8 off their 45 overs.

However, a they were never in the contest after a disappointing batting performance which saw them dismissed for 114 with only three players making double figures.

It was a different story for Boston’s batsmen with Kieran Evans (67), Tom Baxter (47) and Salam Azim (41) leading the way.

Matt Haslam was the pick of Woodhall’s bowlers with 4-52 off 12 overs while Ben Bradford and Kieran Richardson lent support in a bid to stem the flow of runs.

Woodhall needed a good, positive start, but lost skipper Rob Bee early doors and the wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

Jack Timby made 18 and that proved to be the top score of the innings as all Boston’s bowlers enjoyed some success.

n Woodhall’s Sunday first team proved too strong for rivals Nettleham in Division One of the Lincoln and District League.

Excellent bowling shot Nettleham out for 94 and Woodhall moved to a winning 98-3.

n Skipper Alfie Lindsey led the way as Woodhall U13s beat rivals Boston by 10 wickets.

Lindsey took 3-11 as Boston were dismissed for 49 and opener Nitin Joachim then hit 25 as Woodhall coasted home.

n The U-11s were also in winning form as they posted a nine wicket success at Nettleham.
