Horncastle Cricket Club U15s suffered mixed fortunes in their latest East Lindsey Cricket League fixtures.

They defeated Skegness by five wickets but lost by four wickets to a strong Sutton on Sea side just four days later.

In the first match, tight bowling and excellent fielding restricted Skegness to 82-8 off their 20 overs.

Ben Wilkinson (2-20) and Lance Wells (2-12) were the pick of the attack while Thomas Johnson, Edward Applewhite and Curtly Wells also weighed in with wickets.

Debutant Kai Stephenson also pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss dangerman Adam Harris for 12.

A stylish 26 from new opener George Littleworth and a smooth 17 not out from William Ross were the featured of Horncastle’s winning reply of 83-5 although both players received excellent support.

The victory sent Horncastle into the Sutton on Sea clash with plenty of confidence.

Danny Wells (30), Curtly Wells (24) and Ben Wilkinson (16) were the picking of a determined batting effort that saw Horncastle total 122-7.

That appeared to put them in the driving seat but Sutton had other ideas and opener Jay turner (30) led the way as they replied with 123-6 off 17 overs, Drew Simmonds (28) doing most of the damage late on.
