CRICKET: Horncastle Town well beaten by Owmby

Horncastle Cricket Club’s first team suffered a difficult afternoon as they defeated by Owmby by eight wickets.

Town won the toss and elected to bat but lost an early wicket as Nick Paige was caught for just one run.

Richard Dixon and Gareth Jones steadied the side, but after they were both bowled for 10 and 20 respectively Horncastle’s order collapsed and they were eventually all out for 73 off 22.4 overs.

With the ball in hand Town took a very early wicket as Gareth Jones bowled Joe Atkin for a duck and then bowled Daniel Hill out for nine runs.

But Samuel Atkin and David Hill batted their way to victory as they reached 74-2 after just 14.1 overs.
