Horncastle entertained Sleaford Academy in the Sills and Betteridge Lincoln League on Sunday.
Horncastle won the toss and elected to bowl on an overcast humid day.
This decision was soon vindicated thanks to an outstanding opening spell from Ash Bullivant and Gareth Jones. They bowled with accuracy and consistency and took wickets at regular intervals.
Bullivant picked up 3-20 off his seven overs, whilst Jones bowled his full 10 overs straight through and took 4-32.
Sleaford were in massive trouble at 58-7 and needed to rebuild.
Micheal Ackerman was introduced and struck in his second over to keep the pressure on. Rob Bee followed Jones and took the remaining two wickets in just nine deliveries.
Sleaford Academy were all out for 73 in just 23 overs, an outstanding effort from the Horncastle bowlers and fielders.
Openers Bee and Jonny Clark went about the reply and reached 28-0 before Bee was caught for 12. Fidling joined Clark and played positively, quickly reaching double figures. He was caught for 14, leaving Horncastle well set on 42-2.
Clark played well with shots around the wicket before falling lbw for a well made 20.
A couple more wickets fell, bringing Jones and Ben Wilkinson to the crease. Normality was restored and the pair brought Horncastle within four of victory. Jones went for the big finish and was caught at long off. Ackerman came in and swiftly finished the game off to see Horncastle win by four wickets.
