Horncastle Cricket Club’s AGM was well attended by senior and junior members and supporters at Horncastle Astro Bar last week.
Attendees heard from stand-in treasurer, Tim Hannam, that the club remains in a sound financial state, thanks to the generosity of local sponsors and through fundraising and profits from the Astro Bar managed by the cricket club over the summer months.
On the playing side the Sunday XI were the team of the season, finishing a very creditable fourth in Division 3 of the Lincoln League. This team supports the transition of the club’s juniors into senior cricket. In 2015 the team will again be managed by Rich Hickling and Shaun Wilson.
Unfortunately the Saturday X1 was unable to field a settled team throughout the season, with 34 different players being called upon. The team finished second from bottom and will be relegated to Division 2 of the Lincolnshire League in 2015.
After three years in charge, Saturday captain Nick Paige and his vice captain Joe Smith have both decided to stand down from their roles and the club is currently seeking replacements for the 2015 season. The club thanks them both for their commitment and effort over their time in control. Both players will continue to serve on the club committee.
Tim Hannam has stepped back from his role as junior co-ordinator after 12 years at the helm. Tim has been the driving force behind the club’s successful junior section and helping the cricket club gain its ECB Clubmark status – without which the club wouldn’t offering such excellent facilities to local players. Tom Wilkinson takes over as junior co-ordinator and will also represent the junior section on the club committee.
The club committee was voted back en-bloc, with Dean Wilkinson remaining as chairman and Mickey Stones as secretary. The cricket club are still looking for a volunteer to take on the treasurer’s role.
