CRICKET: Horncastle confident ahead of new season after Alford win


Horncastle Cricket Saturday X1 start their 2014 league campaign with a home fixture against Haxey 2nd X1 this weekend.

Horncastle go into the game on the back of a confidence boosting win against local rivals Alford last weekend.

Batting first Horncastle scored more than 200 runs and then restricted the visitors to 120 off their allotted overs.

Club Captain, Nick Paige is optimistic going into the new season. He said: “Players have worked hard during winter nets and are keen to get back into action.”

Chairman, Dean Wilkinson added: “With the retirement of a couple of our senior players, the Saturday team are relying on youngsters to step up to mark. I’m confident they’ll be up to the challenge.”

The action starts down Coronation Walk at 1pm on Saturday.
