CRICKET: Golden chance for Horncastle to register a win

Horncastle Cricket Club appear to have a golden chance of ending their losing run in Division One of the Lincolnshire County League tomorrow (Saturday) when they visit rock bottom Haxey seconds.

Horncastle are just one place above Haxey in the table after their latest reversal against Cleethorpes seconds last Saturday.

However, it was a much improved performance by Horncastle - even though they went down by four wickets against determined opponents.

Skipper Nick Paige will be looking for another impressive display as Horncastle bid to put an smile back on a few faces at the latter stage of what has proved to be a disappointing campaign.

To date, Horncastle have won just one of their 13 games and trail next-best placed club Owmby by 38 points.
