Horncastle U13s pulled off a stunning victory against a Legbourne team who fielded four county players.

Legbourne batted first and were restricted to 62 off 20 overs thanks to their best bowling and fielding performance of the season so far.

This included three run outs, two by George Leverton and the pick of the three by Josh Woodiwiss who swooped in from square leg and with a one handed pick up threw down the stumps. Tight bowling by Tom Kisby, Freddie Lawie and Ollie Clark and a brilliant catch by wicket keeper Christian James rounded off a sensational fielding performance.

Despite only chasing a low total, Horncastle still had a lot to do to secure the victory as Legbourne arguably have the best bowling attack in the league.

Dogged resistance from Toby Wilkinson and Tom Fiddies saw off the very quick opening bowlers but after six overs, Horncastle only had six runs on the board.

Enter George Leverton - new bat glistening in the evening sun - to rescue the Horncastle innings with a swashbuckling 18 runs from four scoring shots.

He was followed by the ever reliable partnership of Freddie Lawie and Edward George who with good shot selection and positive running pushed Horncastle to the verge of victory.

Chris Bargh and the tail end batsmen scrambled the remaining runs.
