Champions Horncastle CC Sunday extended their lead at the top of the Lincoln and District Cricket league to 62 points this weekend.

After clinching the title last week they turned on the style as Market Rasen were the guests at Coronation Walk.

After dismissing the visitors for 75, they secured a six-wicket victory with a score of 78-4 to claim maximum points.

Richard Hickling led the way with the ball, claiming four wickets for the loss of just three runs off his 2.1 overs.

Tom Johnson (2-22) and William Broughton (2-25) also turned on the style while Stuart Turner (1-21) added a further wicket.

Horncastle secured victory within 18 overs, Ben Fidling top scoring with 37.

He was supported by Liam Wilkinson (23 not out).

The Sunday side host Reepham this weekend in their final match of a memorable season, the contest beginning at 1.30pm.

Horncastle CC’s Lincolnshire County League Fourth Division clash at Scunthorpe Town Thirds fell foul of the weather. The contest was cancelled, with both sides handed five points.

It was a frustrating way for the side to conclude their campaign as they would have hoped to pick up more points against the team sat second-bottom.

Horncastle currently sit fifth in the table.
